BBC Studios’ Los Angeles Productions is the driving force behind ratings juggernaut Dancing with the Stars, the Emmy-nominated reboot of the classic quiz show Weakest Link hosted by Jane Lynch, the U.S. break-out of the global sensation The 1% Club, the multi Emmy-winning Life Below Zero franchise, the revved up Top Gear America, and the hit survival competition series Outlast on Netflix, which BBC Studios produces with Jason Bateman’s Aggregate Films.
The unscripted team produced the comedy series When Nature Calls with Helen Mirren on ABC and the daring original format Ex-Rated on Peacock, hosted by Andy Cohen, along with the hit true crime docuseries, Murder Among the Mormons, and Wrestlers, nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best New Non-Scripted/Documentary Series, both on Netflix.
BBC Studios’ well-established U.S. scripted business successfully adapted a trio of British hits for top U.S. broadcast networks. The massive U.S. hit comedy Ghosts, inspired by the beloved British series of the same name, is currently going strong in its fourth season on CBS, produced by CBS Studios in association with Lionsgate. Call Me Kat, based on the BAFTA-nominated BBC series Miranda, reunited Emmy Award nominee Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory) with Jim Parsons as executive producers on the fan favorite comedy series on FOX with Warner Bros. as studio partner. Welcome to Flatch, inspired by BBC Studios’ BAFTA-winning comedy This Country, was written by Emmy winner Jenny Bicks (Sex & the City) and directed by Paul Feig (The Office, Bridesmaids) for FOX and co-produced by Lionsgate.
